A Little Glitz
It’s that time of year! That shiny time. That ‘coat me in sequins’ time. That ‘if it doesn’t have an element of drama or disco, I don’t want it’ time. And hear me out, I know this isn’t that time of year for everyone but I did want to drop a few holiday gems I’d select! Whether you find something new or gently used, very shiny or velvety, leather or glam sweater, this holiday season I pray you shine from your inner light. Whatever glow you decide to wear will be just that, an outward expression of light within.
Here’s my picks!
Dresses
I am Woman, hear me roar! Show off that shape honey! Flaunt what the good Lord gave you. My mom always says ‘Wear it now, you never know when you’ll have the chance again!’ My only ask is that you wear it with confidence! You wear the dress, don’t let it wear you. If you’re unsure, go for a solid color you feel good in. Black looks good on everyone.
Wrap Dresses
Excellent for many body types. Accentuates the waist and bust with the wrap ruching detail. I love it paired with a long sleeve because let’s be honest, arms AND exposed legs? YOUR BUGGIN! Bonus points when the sleeves aren’t just covering your arms, but giving some drama too.
Blazers
Remember from my post A Beginners Guide to Cultivating Style – this is the bread: can sandwich anything and also a stand out star. “Depending on where you’re going” – scratch that Wear Your Things when you want! Sitting in ‘la sala’ (living room) or at the Ritz. Depending on fit and length, wear it as a dress (give legs or pair with fun tights). Wear open with high waist pants or skirt and crop top or with shorts and over the knee boots. Have some fun, be a little spicy!
Skirts
The avocados of our style ingredients. Good any time of day and better with lime chips! Let’s say you want an understated glam, go with a glitzy skirt. Pair it with a turtleneck, tee, sweater or crop top and leather jacket. Go bold and pair with an equally exciting top. No matter what you decide to wear it with, skirts are always a superpower.
pants
All that matters here is good fit! High waist or midrise (no low), wide leg or slim, cropped or extra long – so long as they highlight all YOUR right places, they’re good pants!
jackets
The wild card. The statement piece that says ‘I have Arrived’. I’ve thrifted some amazing pieces (go look through the formal/wedding/granny section) but also come across these as well. Pair with leather pants for a more chic look or go all in and pair with an equally bedazzled bottoms. Wear it sis!
Tops
Pick your power and have a great time! If you plan to wear jeans and just want some more spice or you’re pairing it with some of these other options above – HAVE FUN!
